(From HMDB) The block base of the obelisk contains the names of 39 local men, killed in the war. Unit identification, and place or battle where the man died, are listed with some of the names. Cities, and battles are inscribed on the obelisk. The monument contains no story text per se. Three additional “slabs” are located around the obelisk, containing 178 names of local men who served.
