Erected by the People of Lycoming Co. under the auspices of The Grand Army of the Republic to the memory of Their Heroic Dead who Fell in Defence of the Union 1861 to 1865 This tablet is dedicated in memory of "Our Fathers" who served their country 1861 — 1865 by the Pennsylvania D. U. V. of the Civil War June 22, 1936 We were in peril. They breasted the danger; the Republic called, they answered with their blood. "Death makes no conquest of these conquerors, for now they live in fame, though not in life." "These dead shall not have died in vain, that the nation shall under God have a new birth of freedom and that the government of the people, by the people, and for the people, shall not perish from the earth."
