Description
An iron, 13-inch Seacoast Mortar with the year "1822" embossed on the barrel. A
plaque in the cement sidewalk below the back of the cannon describes it as "Civil War
Artillery 13-inch Seacoast Mortar. Donated in 1897 by the Grand Army of the Republic." The
mortar mouth points NNE. The mortar muzzle is engraved with the words "Fort Pitt, PA 1822"
and the letter "P." above the figures "17,196 lbs No. 1022 J.M.B."
