Aspen Union Soldier Statue (Aspen, Colorado)
Description
Life-sized granite statue of Union soldier standing at parade rest, holding the barrel of a rifle whose butt rests on the ground next to his right foot. The soldier wears a Union overcoat, cape, and kepi hat. The statue is mounted atop a granite pedestal engraved on its southwest-facing side with a text inscription, and carved on the other three sides with crossed sabers, an anchor, and crossed cannon barrels. The monument is located near the SW corner of the Pitkin County Courthouse.
