In memory of the Minute Men of 1776 and the soldiers and sailors of the Revolutionary War and especially of Captain John H. Post who lies buried here and whose destruction of Acquacknonk Bridge saved General Washington’s army from capture in its retirement from Fort Lee to this spot on November 21, 1776. In Memoriam The soldiers and sailors of the Civil War for the preservation of the Union and of the other wars of our country who lie buried in this park which was formerly the cemetery of the Protestant Reformed Dutch Church at Acquacknonk. May 30, 1924
