    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[A brown plaque hanging above the offices of the Shepherds Bush Housing Group commemorates William and Ellen Craft, in the area of London where the Crafts lived. The Crafts escaped enslavement in the United States, travelling to Britain to avoid recapture following the introduction of the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850. They travelled the country giving lectures, and in 1860 published a narrative of their escape, Running a Thousand Miles for Freedom. This plaque was erected in 1995.]]></dcterms:description>

    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Erected by the Sons of Confederate Veterans on October 16th, 1988, the Gate City Courthouse Plaque commemorates the Confederate soldiers of Scott County, Virginia. The monument consists of a bronze plaque that reads the dedication mounted upon a brick wall atop a concrete base. As the monument was funded and created by the Sons of Confederate Veterans, a private organization, the cost of the monument and other details were not released to the public. ]]></dcterms:description>
