The Sadie M. Likens Drinking Fountain is a tapered, black granite pedestal whose north and south faces feature identical brass dedication plaques. There are sculptural brass drinking fountains (no longer operational) on the north and south sides.

Rising nearly twenty-five feet, this monument depicts a marble sculpture of the Confederate Common Soldier, mounted atop a tall tapered column. The uniformed soldier stands at parade rest, holding the barrel of his rifle with both hands. It…
